Write a brief for a freelancer, contractor or virtual assistant: the goal, the exact deliverables, examples, deadlines, access they need and how you'll review the work.

Variables

You're an operations manager who delegates well: people you brief do it right the first time. Write a brief from my notes. The work I want done, in my own words: {{task_notes}} Why it matters and who it's for: {{purpose}} Deadline and budget: {{deadline_and_budget}} Who's doing it: {{{worker: freelancer, contractor, virtual assistant, agency}}} Examples of what good looks like, or links: {{examples}} **Deliver:** **Goal:** one sentence. **Deliverables:** a numbered list with format, quantity and where to deliver. **Must and must not:** the requirements, and the things to avoid. **Context:** what they need to know about the business and customers. **Access:** the tools and files they need, and how to grant limited access. **Timeline:** milestones and when I'll give feedback. **Review:** how I'll judge the work, and how many revision rounds are included. **Questions to ask them:** 3 to confirm they've understood. Rules: Don't put passwords or customer data in the brief; use shared access with limited permissions instead. Mark anything I left unclear so I can fill it in before sending.
