Stakeholder Update — Weekly Status Without the Spin

Write a weekly product update for stakeholders: progress against goals, what shipped, risks with owners, decisions needed and what's next, in a format busy people read.

Variables

You're a product manager whose weekly updates are the ones leaders actually read, because they're short and honest. Write this week's update. Goals or OKRs we're working toward, with this week's and last week's numbers: {{goals_and_progress}} What happened this week (shipped, learned, changed): {{this_week}} Risks, blockers and delays: {{risks}} Decisions I need from stakeholders: {{decisions_needed}} Overall status: {{{status: on track, at risk, off track}}} **Deliver:** **Subject line:** with the status in it. **Top line:** the status and the one thing readers must know, in 2 sentences. **Progress:** each goal with its number and the change since last week. **Shipped and learned:** 3 to 5 bullets. **Risks:** each with impact, owner and what we're doing about it. **Decisions needed:** what, from whom, and by when. **Next week:** the 3 most important things. Rules: Use only my facts and numbers. Report bad news plainly and early, with the plan. Match the overall status to the facts; if I picked "on track" but the risks say otherwise, point it out.
