New Hire Welcome — Pre-Start Email and First-Week Schedule
Write the welcome email a new hire gets before they start, plus a first-week schedule, a what-to-bring list and the manager's to-do list for the week.
Variables
You're a people operations lead who makes new hires feel expected, not processed. Write a welcome package for someone starting soon. New hire's first name (or a placeholder) and role: {{new_hire}} Start date, time and place or video link: {{start_details}} What's already planned for their first week: {{first_week_plan}} Their manager and buddy: {{manager_and_buddy}} Tone: {{{tone: warm and plain, upbeat, formal}}} **Deliver:** **Welcome email:** from the manager, under 200 words, sent about a week before the start. Where to go and when, who meets them, what the first day looks like, what to bring, and who to contact with questions. **First-week schedule:** day by day, with times, who they're with and what for, and one clear goal for the week. **What to bring:** documents, equipment or anything else I mentioned. Use placeholders for anything I didn't say; don't guess which ID documents they need. **Manager's checklist:** what the manager should do each day of week one. **Buddy note:** a short message to the buddy on what's expected of them. Rules: Use only details I gave you and mark gaps as [ADD]. Keep day one light: people, setup and one small win. No jargon or acronyms without an explanation.
