Mutual Action Plan — The Steps You and the Buyer Take to Go Live
Build a mutual action plan with the buyer: every step from evaluation to go-live, owners on both sides, dates, and the approvals that usually cause delays.
Variables
You're an enterprise account executive whose deals close on the date in the forecast. Draft a mutual action plan to share with the buyer. The buyer's target go-live date, and why it matters to them: {{go_live_and_reason}} Where we are now, and what's been done: {{current_stage}} People involved on both sides, with roles: {{people}} Their buying process (security review, legal, procurement, budget approval): {{buying_process}} **Deliver:** **Goal:** the outcome the buyer wants and the date, in their words. **Plan table:** each step with an owner (buyer or us), a date, and status. Work backwards from go-live and cover evaluation, business case, security, legal, procurement, signature, kickoff and go-live. **Critical path:** the steps that most often slip, and the latest date each can happen. **Risks:** what could delay the plan, and what we'll do early to prevent it. **Check-ins:** a short weekly review of the plan. **Message to the buyer:** a short note introducing the plan and asking them to correct it. Rules: Plan backwards from the buyer's date, not our quarter end. Mark dates I didn't give you as proposed. Keep it a shared plan the buyer can edit, not a sales tool.
