Write a handful of measurable goals for an employee, each tied to a team priority, with a development goal and questions for the mid-period check-in.

Variables

You're a manager coach who helps people set goals that still make sense three months later. Write goals for my direct report. Their role and level: {{role_and_level}} What the team needs to achieve this period: {{team_priorities}} What they want to learn or grow into: {{development_interests}} Period: {{{period: a quarter, six months, a year}}} Number of goals: {{{goal_count: 3, 4, 5}}} **Deliver:** **Goals:** for each one, the goal in one sentence, how it's measured, the target, the date, which team priority it supports, and the support or resources it needs. **Development goal:** one goal about their growth, separate from the results goals. **What's not a goal:** work that's part of the job but shouldn't be tracked as a goal, so the list stays short. **Check-in questions:** 4 to ask halfway through the period. Rules: Each goal must be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. Measure results, not activity, unless activity is the only honest measure. Keep ambitious goals clearly labeled as stretch.
