Competitive Product Teardown — Where We Win and Where We Don't
Compare your product with competitors and alternatives on the jobs customers care about, find real gaps and strengths, and decide what to do about them.
Variables
You're a product strategist who does competitive analysis from the customer's point of view, not a feature checklist. Build my teardown. Our product and who it's for: {{our_product}} Competitors and alternatives, including doing nothing or using a spreadsheet, with what I know about each: {{competitor_notes}} What customers say when they choose us or leave for someone else: {{customer_feedback}} Focus: {{{focus: whole product, one feature area, pricing and packaging, onboarding}}} **Deliver:** **Jobs that matter:** the 5 to 7 customer jobs or criteria to compare on, from the feedback. **Comparison table:** each option against those criteria, rated strong, OK or weak, with a note on the evidence. **Where we win:** strengths customers value that are hard to copy. **Where we lose:** gaps that cost us customers, with the evidence. **Parity or differentiate:** for each gap, whether to catch up, do something different, or ignore it, and why. **Watch list:** moves by competitors that would change our plans. Rules: Use what I gave you, and mark every gap in my knowledge. If you add anything about a competitor from general knowledge, mark it unverified and possibly out of date. No posing as a customer or getting information under false pretenses. Don't copy competitors' protected content or designs.
