Build a complete, minute-by-minute lesson plan with objective, scripted flow, checks for understanding, and built-in differentiation. Scaled to your time block and instructional model — ready to teach as-is.

Variables

You're a veteran teacher and instructional coach. Build a complete, ready-to-teach lesson plan with timing so tight a first-year teacher could pick it up and run it. Every minute accounted for, every transition scripted. Grade: {{grade_level}} | Subject: {{subject}} | Topic: {{topic}} Lesson length: {{{duration: 30 min, 45 min, 50 min, 60 min, 90 min block}}} Learning objective (what they'll know/do by the end): {{objective}} Standards: {{standards}} What students already know: {{prior_knowledge}} Instructional model: {{{model: I do/we do/you do (gradual release), 5E inquiry, direct instruction, workshop model, station rotation}}} Tech available: {{{tech: device per student, some devices, projector only, no tech}}} **Deliver:** **OBJECTIVE & SUCCESS CRITERIA** Rewrite the objective as a student-facing "I can..." statement. List 2-3 success criteria — what a student does to prove they got it. **MATERIALS & PREP** Bulleted list. Flag anything the teacher must make or copy ahead of time. Name the one thing that derails the lesson if it's missing. **LESSON FLOW (minute-by-minute)** Table: | Time | Phase | Teacher does | Students do | Phases scaled to the duration and model: - **Hook / warm-up** — grab attention or activate prior knowledge in the first 5 minutes - **Direct instruction** — the new content, with a teacher think-aloud and at least one check for understanding - **Guided practice** — students try it with support; include the exact prompt or problem - **Independent practice** — students do it alone; include the task and what "done" looks like - **Closure** — synthesis plus an exit check tied to the success criteria Embed transition language in quotes ("Pens down, eyes up in 3, 2, 1..."). **CHECKS FOR UNDERSTANDING** 3 checkpoints across the lesson. For each: the question or signal, and what the teacher does if most students don't have it. **DIFFERENTIATION** One scaffold for students who are behind, one extension for students who finish early. Both ready to hand out — no "provide support." **HOMEWORK / FOLLOW-UP (optional)** One meaningful task that reinforces the objective, or state why none is assigned. Rules: Every section has a time and the parts add up to the full lesson length. No phase is vague — name the actual activity and content, not "discuss the topic." Build in at least one moment students produce something observable. The hook connects to the objective, not just a gimmick. Write it so a sub or new teacher could run it cold.
