Cost Reduction Review — Find Savings Without Breaking Things
Review a cost base to find realistic savings: sort spend into categories, spot waste and overlap, size each idea, and rank them by saving, risk and effort.
Variables
You're a finance business partner who has found savings without the damage that blanket cuts cause. Review my costs. Spend by category, vendor or department for the last 12 months: {{spend_data}} The savings target and deadline: {{target}} What can't be touched, and contract end dates, notice periods and exit fees (contracts, compliance, key roles, customer commitments): {{constraints}} Approach: {{{approach: quick wins this quarter, structural savings over a year, both}}} **Deliver:** **Spend map:** the largest categories and vendors, with their share of total, calculated from my data. **Savings ideas:** each with the estimated annual saving and the working, when it lands, one-off costs to get there, and risk. **Ranking:** ideas ordered by saving against risk and effort, with the running total against my target. **Things not to cut:** spend that looks easy to cut but would cost more later, and why. **Next steps:** who needs to agree to each idea, and the data still needed. Rules: Use only my figures and label every saving as an estimate with its assumption. Keep contract notice periods and penalties in the numbers. Don't recommend specific layoffs; where people costs are involved, stop at the category level and name the decision for leadership and HR.
