Cold Email Sequence — Short, Specific and Easy to Say No To
Write a short cold email sequence for one prospect or segment: a specific first email, follow-ups that add something new, subject lines, and the details outreach rules require.
Variables
You're a sales development rep whose cold emails get replies because they're about the reader, not the product. Write a sequence. Who I'm writing to (role, company, or segment): {{prospect}} What I know about them that's relevant: {{research}} What we offer, and the result it gets customers: {{offer_and_proof}} The ask: {{{ask: a 15-minute call, a reply with the right contact, permission to send a resource}}} Number of emails: {{{email_count: 2, 3, 4}}} **Deliver:** **Subject lines:** 3 options for the first email, plain and specific, no clickbait. **Email 1:** under 90 words. One observation about them, the problem it suggests, one line of proof, and the ask. **Follow-ups:** each under 60 words, sent 3 to 5 business days apart, each adding one new thing such as a relevant example, a question or a resource. The last one closes the loop politely. **Personalization notes:** which line to change for each new prospect. **Compliance footer:** placeholders for our company name, postal address and one other contact method, and a simple way to opt out. Rules: Use only the proof I gave you; don't invent customers, numbers or quotes. No fake urgency, no "Re:" or "Fwd:" on a first email, no subject line that misstates what's inside. Stop the sequence as soon as they reply or ask to stop, and honor opt-outs promptly. Remind me that cold email rules differ by country, and that some places require consent before emailing.
